Mark's Public Service
Growing up, my father had a saying, "The more you learn, the more you earn."
I worked my way through the community college and SLU with the goal of learning more so I could earn more. I lapped up as much knowleged as I could. Upon graduation it was time to use that knowledge to attain wealth. Then I went to work for the government and blew my fathers mantra to bits.
I started working for Senator Bond and Ashcroft on June 7th, 2000 making $18,000 per year. On payday I felt like a volunteer, but I was hooked. The pay just did not matter. Sure, there were some material things I had to do without, but the love of the job far outweighed those longings.
I developed a new mantra...Once you find a job you love, it's not longer work.
That is true to this day, from my humble beginings as a Senate staffer to today, as your State Representative. The satisfaction gained by helping someone with a issue, passing a law that will make Missouri a better place to live and work, or just sitting on your front porch and discussing last nights Cardinals game, is pay in itself.
I love what I do for a living. I do it for you, your children, and our mutual future.
I hope that you will join me in these efforts! Please become a member of Team Parkinson and together, we can move Missouri forward.
