In the early 1960's my grandparents, Winston & Norma Parkinson, had a dream home in mind. The only dilemma was where to build it. They had a vision; they wanted a home on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River valley in St. Charles County.
The choice of property came down to two, one at the end of Jungs Station Road and the other at the end of Caulks Hill Road. They chose the lot on Caulks Hill Road because they knew the Page Avenue extension was coming through.
Page Avenue Bridge was opened to the public in December, 2003, 43 years after my grandparents made the decision of where to build there house. 43 Years.
This brings us to today. The Page Avenue extension is a tremendous blessing for our county, region, and state. There is a problem, it's not finished. As is stands today, an interstate standard highway immediately dumps onto Highway 94. As you sit there in congestion, waiting for the light to turn green, and watch your $4.00/gallon gasoline exit your tank.
Regional planners are planning to expand it all the way to Highway 64 in O'Fallon. For those of you that commute to work on Highway 40 or Highway 70 to work know how the opening of Page Avenue has alleviated traffic congestion on those routes.
Working with the Federal Government, MoDOT, St. Charles County, St. Peters, etc. I envision Page Avenue extension completed. It will take a regional effort and, as part of the St. Charles County House of Representatives delegation, will diligently work to see its completion.
I hope that you will join me in these efforts! Please become a member of Team
Parkinson and together, we can move Missouri forward.
