Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned. It is irresponsible for a state representative to claim that they do nothing about Roe v. Wade. As a public servant and a Christian I believe that I have a moral responsibility to stand up for our most vulnerable, the unborn. The reversal of Roe v. Wade represents only one step in the long path toward ending abortion. The fight for life is a two pronged battle; the pregnant mother needs the courage to bring her child into the world while our society meets the needs of her and her newborn baby. The pro-life people of Missouri are a dedicated and compassionate group of individuals. They have done tremendous work providing services to pregnant mothers in need. We must work together, strengthening these groups and individuals to meet their end, ending abortion in Missouri. Abortion is a human tragedy. I am proud to be 100% pro-life and will work diligently to support the innocent/unborn. I firmly believes that a society will fail when it does not respect innocent life, both born and unborn. I will fight any attempt to use Missouri tax dollars to fund any organization, including Planned Parenthood, that provide abortions. In Missouri, our adoption laws need overhauling. These changes will make unwanted babies quickly available to those couples that can not conceive. Until the day Roe v. Wade is overturned, we must continue to chip away at it. The Missouri House passed (and I supported) HB 1831. This bill amended laws regarding the consent requirements for obtaining an abortion. Abortions cannot be performed or induced without the voluntary, informed, and uncoerced consent of the woman at least 24 hours prior to the abortion. In essence, this bill would have criminalized the act of forcing a woman to undergo an abortion. This is good public policy and I will lead the charge next year in getting similar legislation enacted. I hope that you will join me in these efforts!
